For example, researchers may hold focus groups, which are a qualitative method, to help provide deeper insight and context for laboratory findings, which is a quantitative method. This approach may lead to a better understanding of some research problems. Here an example would be where researchers collect quantitative data in a survey on respondents&#8217; demographic information like age, education level, sex and gender, and more, along with their satisfaction ratings of a product. To strengthen this quantitative data, they also do interviews with people to better understand why some people prefer one product over another.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Analyse qualitative : <\/strong>Analyse visant \u00e0 circonscrire l\u2019exp\u00e9rience, les attitudes et les comportements humains parfois difficiles \u00e0 quantifier. Ils pourraient par exemple analyser des entrevues men\u00e9es aupr\u00e8s de 30 personnes aux prises avec le diab\u00e8te au Canada afin de cerner les obstacles auxquels elles se butent lorsqu\u2019elles cherchent \u00e0 se procurer des m\u00e9dicaments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Analyse quantitative : <\/strong>Collecte et analyse de donn\u00e9es num\u00e9riques en vue de d\u00e9crire ou d\u2019expliquer une question de recherche en sant\u00e9 d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat, ou de prendre des mesures ou de faire des pr\u00e9dictions connexes. \u00c0 titre d\u2019exemple, des chercheurs m\u00e8nent un sondage aupr\u00e8s de 100 personnes afin qu\u2019elles indiquent, sur une \u00e9chelle de 1 \u00e0 5, leur degr\u00e9 de satisfaction \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard de leur m\u00e9decin de famille ainsi que le nombre de rendez vous m\u00e9dicaux fix\u00e9s au cours de l\u2019ann\u00e9e \u00e9coul\u00e9e. L\u2019\u00e9quipe de recherche est ainsi en mesure de d\u00e9terminer s\u2019il existe une corr\u00e9lation entre une faible satisfaction \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard de son m\u00e9decin de famille et la fr\u00e9quence des consultations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Signification statistique :<\/strong> Conclusion tir\u00e9e pour d\u00e9terminer si un r\u00e9sultat de recherche ou un lien s\u2019explique probablement par le hasard. La signification statistique est souvent mesur\u00e9e par la valeur de probabilit\u00e9, ou valeur p. Le seuil de signification statistique a g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une valeur p inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 0,05, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire qu\u2019il y a moins de 5 % de chances que les r\u00e9sultats de l\u2019\u00e9tude soient attribuables uniquement au hasard. Par exemple, on obtient une valeur p de 0,02 lors d\u2019une \u00e9tude sur le lien entre le tabagisme et le d\u00e9veloppement du cancer du poumon.
